Yes, Dee & I are still alive! Sorry for being so absent from the world of blogging … but with Dee’s CPA exams and my busy work schedule, its been hard keeping up.  But alas, here we are again 🙂  Love the cover of July’s Vivi, so we thought we’d showcase some of our favorite summer trends from this month’s issue.  1. Ruffled and Tiered Crop tops 2. Mix & matching prints 3. Pearly accessories 4. Embellished Cross-body or shoulder satchels.

And now, I’m just trying to change the world one sequin at a time

I must say, we can’t help ourselves from obsessing over Mercury Duo’s Spring/Summer 2010 runway collection!! The concept of this season’s line was “American Retro” – with a bit of a modern and edgy twist … and who better to personify this than the american pop phenomena known as Lady Gaga.  You can see how her quirk and funk has inspired the runway.  Love or hate Gaga’s fashion sence, you have to admit she sure adds drama and flare that we crave.  Take away the extravagant white hair pieces and neon metallic body suits, you can see some really pretty and wearable pieces for summer.  Pieces to point out are the feather skirts (LOVE), floral ruffle dress, and the ruffle 3/4 sleeve dress accented with the belt.  Imagine being there for the actual show (at least we get to see Lady Gaga concert in August!!!) … I can just hear the “Rah-rah-ah-ah-ah Roma, Roma-ma GaGa, ooh la la”

While I was rummaging through my closet, I came across this Egoist cropped jacket from my first trip to Tokyo and remembered why we loved this brand so much … classic and cute pieces that last.  Known for their uber cute and stylish sales girls in Tokyo, Egoist’s S/S collection has that bit of boho glam and summer chic-ness.  Faves are the lace cardi, eyelet brown shorts, white ruffle top, and most of all … the white crochet romper with hood (last picture).  It’s perfect for the hitting the beach this summer!

Runway Star

During our recent trip to Tokyo, we fell in love with a lot of pieces from Murua’s Spring/Summer collection …one of them being the long black maxi on our tokyo post, which is happily hanging in my closet to be worn over n over again this summer 🙂  Murua’s runway collection is filled with those amazing edgy chic pieces we fell head over heals over, such as the floral mini skirt, the leather and mesh combo leggings (look 2), the lacey tops, and floral corset just to name a few.  Only regret … not buying it all!!

Summertime Essentials

Summer is just around the corner and its time to stock up the closet with some essentials!!

1. The back detail … this summer its all about the back detail.  From cutouts & bows, to backless and lace … this trend is sure help fight the summer heat. BTW, the bows along the back is adorable!

2. The Crop top and The Button Down Blouse … these 2 key items are a MUST this summer, especially the crop top! Whether you’re for or against this iconic 80s fashion trend, its making a HUGE comeback with a modern styling touch.  Button ups are always good to have and can essentially be paired with anything … we love it tucked into a fitted striped skirt, or slouchy floral skirt … key is to keep it lightweight and breezy!

3. Paisley print … tunics, skirts, maxi’s, vests, blouses, u name it this print is everywhere! If you’re not a big fan of florals, this is a good alternative to add that touch of color to your summer wardrobe 🙂

We were so excited to see one of our favorite fashion bloggers wearing a TokyoGlam item … the Govil Gold Rope Bracelet!! Located in the lovely  SF, Liz of Late Afternoon has become an inspiration to the many gals (including us) who turn to her for that vintage style aesthetic that we crave.  It’s awesome that she was able to incorporate a bit of TokyoGlam into some of her gorgeous daily outfits 🙂 We love you Liz!

Feeling Inspired

One of our favorite models in Vivi is Chikako … she makes all the clothes look so good! Favorite inspiring outfits are:

#3 suspenders are making a comeback and we love how its paired with a loose tee & boater hat.

#10 loose crop top paired with a maxi dress was one of our favorite style trends we witnessed in Tokyo … very casual chic … and the chunky necklace that adds a boldness to the outfit.

#15 has a modern bohemian touch … casual tee brings down the frill of the full lace skirt and the headband adds a cool quirk to the outfit.

#20 what can I say, I’m a sucker for dark military looks

All the outfits have an effortless style and can be worn as everyday casual looks, which we LOVE.  Need to look around to re-create some of these inspiring outfits 🙂
